The drama film Habeebi has been announced to begin streaming on Sony Liv from September 25. Actor-director Kasturi Raja, father of Selvaraghvan and Dhanush, leads the cast of Habeebi.
The film is directed by Meera Kathiravan, from a script by VS Mohamed Ameen. The film follows the romance of a couple belonging to a Muslim household. Habeebi opened in theatres on June 12. Romeo Pictures, Nesam Entertainment, and GKS Bros Production are the banners backing the film.
The cast of Habeebi also includes Malavika Manoj, Dhanashree Sudhakaran, Arulkumar, and Anusreya Rajan, among others.
Sam CS has composed music for the film, which features lyrics by Yugabharathi, Karthik Netha, Mashook Rahman. The crew of the film also includes director of photography Mahesh Muthuswami, editor Mathi VS, and art director Appunni Sajan.
CE's review of the film reads, "Kasthuri Raja brings an earnest portrayal to Yusuf, a man who is struggling to come to terms with a world that he no longer recognises. The music of Sam CS music lifts the story when it falters and adds emotional weight to it. But the best character in the film is Dhanasree Sudhakaran’s Parveen who quotes lines from Ambedkar, Periyar and Martin Luther King."
