In October last year, we reported about Sai Abhyankkar potentially coming onboard as the composer for a film starring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi. At a recent event, Cibi Chakaravarthi confirmed Sai as the music director for the upcoming film. Before making the announcement, Cibi joked, referring to Sai Abhyankkar, "You keep getting thinner. I do not know how to identify you the next time we meet." The filmmaker's comment elicited a big laugh from the composer.
Then, Cibi confirmed the speculation regarding Sai Abhyankkar before describing the composer as "a very sincere and hard working person". The filmmaker added, "Sai, you are going to go 1000 times higher than the position you are in right now. We are all going to see that with you. Happy for you."
The upcoming film is expected to mark the 28th film in Sivakarthikeyan's career. Tentatively known as SK 28 in film circles, the project is set to bring Cibi Chakaravarthi and Sivakarthikeyan back together after their collaboration on 2022's Don.
The 2022 film, which marked Cibi Chakaravarthi's directorial debut, also starred Priyanka Mohan, SJ Suryah, P Samuthirakani, and Soori. Don became a commercial success at the time of its release in 2022; according to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk, the film earned 114 crore from theatres worldwide.
Cibi Chakaravarthi has not had a film released in theatres since the 2022 debut. Recently, he was attached to Rajinikanth's upcoming film with producer Raaj Kamal Films International. However, he was mysteriously detached from the project, then known as Thalaivar 173, before Oh My Kadavule and Dragon director Ashwath Marimuthu came onboard for the film, which has since been titled Dharman.
Coming back to the Sivakarthikeyan film, the makers are yet to announce any official details about the project, including information about its storyline, additional cast, crew, or producer.
