Arya is coming back together with his Sarpatta Parambarai director Pa Ranjith for an upcoming film, co-starring VR Dinesh. At the launch event of its latest glimpse, titled World of Vettuvam, the actor spoke about what he learnt from Pa Ranjith about the director's ambitions. He said that the filmmaker was not happy with the fact that his last film Thangalaan, starring Vikram, did not have the kind of reach he expected it to have upon its theatrical release.
At the time, Arya also learnt that Pa Ranjith had a screenplay for an ambitious film with much promise. The actor disclosed that the filmmaker did not wish to make the same mistakes he committed in Thangalaan in his upcoming film. While admitting that he personally liked the 2024 Vikram starrer, Arya noted that his director accepted the underperformance of Thangalaan at the box office without any ego. "He clearly told me that it is important to let the audience know what to expect from our film," Arya said about his conversation with Ranjith regarding Vettuvam.
"You would realise that he does not have any ego only if you collaborate with him in a film," the actor said regarding his director.
Arya also revealed that Vettuvam will be an unprecedented film for a Pa Ranjith directorial venture that blends elements of apocalyptic fiction and some amount of science fiction. Also featuring Santhosh Narayanan Chenthilkumar as a co-writer, the film has dialogues by Franklin Jacob. Its cast includes Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Saami, Harish Uthaman, Lizzy, Lingesh, Prem Kumar, Kavitha Bharathi, Arjun, Santha Kumar, Melody, Manisha, Nimmy, Raphael, Vikram, Naveen, and Prakash.
On the technical front, Vettuvam has composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Roopesh Shaji, editor Selva RK, art director SS Murthi, and stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan.
