There has been some speculation online about Dhanush's upcoming film with Lubber Pandhu director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu being titled Padaiyal. The rumour stemmed from Valai Pechu and a social media user described the aforementioned as the film's "expected title". The user also called it "a raw and violent" film that received A certification from the Censor Board.
Reacting to the speculation, Tamizharasan Pachamuthu wrote with apparent sarcasm that the title seems good. "PADAIYAL - nalla irukke," he wrote, followed by a thinking face emoticon. "Nan yen yosikkaama ponen (why didn't I think of it?). Sari ok Pesama “ A Tamizharasan Pachamuthu Padaiyal “ nu pottudren (I would name it A Tamizharasan Pachamuthu Padaiyal).."
For the unversed the term 'Padaiyal' refers to a ritual offering for God. Tamizharasan Pachamuthu appeared to be tongue-in-cheek in his response to the user.
Producer Arun Viswa also joined the conversation, saying, "Padaiyal : “A Tamizharasan pachamuchu Virundhu”. Idhu innum apt ah irukkum (This will also be apt)."
Tamizharasan Pachamuthu made his directorial debut with the 2024 cricket-based drama Lubber Pandhu, starring Harish Kalyan, VR Dinesh, Swasika, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, and Kaali Venkat, among others. The film became a commercial success at the time of its release, reportedly grossing around 50 crore from theatres. Audiences appreciated its portrayal of cricket portions, humour, and performances led by Dinesh, Swasika and Harish Kalyan.
Coming back to Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's upcoming film, it has been tentatively titled D56 for quite a while now. It is set to mark the 56th film in Dhanush's career.
On July 28 this year, the filmmaker wished Dhanush on his birthday and wrote, "I hope, I wish, and I promise to work towards directing a mass blockbuster for you." The makers are yet to reveal any major details about the film officially, including information about its title.
