

Actor-director Dhanush is currently one of the busiest actors in the Tamil industry and has multiple projects in his kitty with various prominent directors. Last seen in Vignesh Raja's Kara, Dhanush is currently filming for Rajkumar Periasamy's Om: Chapter 1 - Udhiram (The Blood Wood) and will next join Tamizharasan Pachamuthu for the untitled D56. The Lubber Pandhu director has been keeping most of the details regarding the movie under wraps despite fans relentlessly asking him for an update. On Dhanush's 43rd birthday, he revealed a key detail regarding the production of his film.
He wished Dhanush for his birthday by sharing a picture with the director and said, "I hope, I wish, and I promise to work towards directing a mass blockbuster for you," hinting at the genre of D56 as a mass commercial entertainer. He further revealed that the production of his film with the actor will begin after the Tamil month of Aadi which will be towards the end of August.
Tamizharasan began recce for his film in March. Much details regarding D56 are currently unknown at the moment. In March, Uriyadi (2016) and Election (2024)-fame Vijay Kumar hinted at joining the yet-to-be-titled film. There are also speculations about Rukmini Vasanth being cast in an important role which is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Rajkumar Periasamy's D55 is currently in its final schedule in Malaysia. Scheduled to open in theatres on October 16, the upcoming film features a star-studded cast consisting of Mammootty, Naseeruddin Shah, Indrans, Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi, among others.
Besides Om and D56, Dhanush is also set to reunite with Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for a film which will feature music by AR Rahman. It was recently revealed that Dhanush will also join hands once again with Vetri Maaran for Thamizh Murugan, written by noted author Arivumathi.
