Regena Cassandrra is all set to be seen as a supervillain opposite Nayanthara's goddess in Mookuthi Amman 2, which is scheduled for release on November 6. She also shares the screen with Kannada actor Duniya Vijay in the sequel, which is helmed by Sundar C.
Audiences who saw the trailer of Mookuthi Amman 2 identified that the Vidaamuyarchi actor has reduced weight. While promoting the film, she revealed that she lost some weight for the film. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the reason behind becoming leaner before playing the antagonist, clarifying that it was not Sundar C's call.
"Sundar sir definitely didn't ask me to reduce weight," she revealed to Behindwoods, before saying, "When we did the look test for this character in Mookuthi Amman 2, I felt something was missing. I got the evil expression and suited the role but wanted to reduce some weight, especially on my face."
Regena then said that the director was initially dissatisfied with her transformation. "Sundar sir was unhappy about my weight loss. When I went for the film's first schedule, he was shocked and asked me why I lost so much weight. I thought I would be replaced in the film," she shared.
Sundar C's film is a bigger and more spectacle-orientated follow-up to the rather talkie first part, Mookuthi Amman, directed by RJ Balaji and also starring him with Nayanthara. The upcoming film stars Urvashi, Yogi Babu, Maina Nandini, Garuda Ram, Abhinaya, Shruthy S, Singapuli Annavi, VR Swaminathan, Sivakumar S, Sunil Varma Indukuri, Varshini Venkat, Pala Karuppiah, Ananda Adhista Lakshmi, Nitin Sathyaa, and Deblina Chaki.
Mookuthi Amman 2 is produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh under his Vels Film International banner. It has Khushbu Sundar, Kushmitha Ganesh, Ishan Saksena, and Vignesh Shivan serving as co-producers. On the technical front, the film has music by Hiphop Tamizha, cinematography by Gopinath Venugopal, action choreography by Rajasekar K, and editing by Fenny Oliver.
