There has been much discourse around actor Nazriya Nazim's outfit at a recent promotional event for her upcoming film Scene in Dubai. The actor appeared at the event clad in a green off-the-shoulder outfit, alongside her co-stars Suriya and Naslen and director Jithu Madhavan. Since then, she has been facing derogatory comments about her appearance on the internet. At the same time, several users defended the actor, calling it a personal decision and hitting back at body shaming and dress code policing.
Amidst the discourse, Nazriya Nazim dropped on Tuesday pictures featuring her in the same outfit as from the Dubai promotional event. Naslen and Jithu Madhavan dropped comments under her post, expressing their love for the actor amidst intense scrutiny regarding her dressing style and personality.
The derogation after the event is not an isolated incident for Nazriya, one of the most beloved actors in the South. She has been facing ageism and body shaming comments for a while now. Several users dropped disparaging comments regarding her candid reactions behind Suriya from a recent public appearance, calling these ‘cringe' and arguing that what was once ‘cute' is no longer the case. The actor also found loyal supporters there, retorting to a case of appearance shaming.
Coming back to Scene, the film marks Nazriya’s first acting collaboration with Suriya, Naslen and Jithu Madhavan. The film brings her back to Tamil cinema for the first time after 2014’s Thirumanam Enum Nikkah, although her 2022 Telugu film Ante Sundaraniki also had a dubbed Tamil release titled Adade Sundara.
Produced by Suriya and Jyotika under their Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment banners, the film is slated for a November 06 release in theaters. Also scheduled to release on the same date is Sundar C's Mookuthi Amman 2, starring Nayanthara.
