Before its October 15 release, Rajinikanth's film Jailer 2 seems like a sure shot 250-crore grosser, unless something remarkable happens at the box office. According to the latest available data from the box office tracker Sacnilk, director Nelson's film has already sold tickets worth 41.05 crore in pre-release reservations for the first three days, including 35.77 crore if you do not account for block seats. Reportedly, Coolie remains the highest-grossing Rajinikanth film in terms of the collection from advance bookings alone, and Jailer 2 has a long way to go to break its record. That said, it would not be prudent to count it against being the new record-setter, if early trends are anything to go by.
The maximum reservation amount for the film is for October 15, its release date, with data showing a figure of 23.42 crore (gross) across 10,025 shows. The figure for the next three days hovers around six crore.
A sequel to 2023's Jailer, the film brings Rajinikanth back as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. According to Sacnilk, Jailer 2 follows the Superstar's character, who must go back to his once-ruthless ways in order to keep his family safe and protect his legacy as a new underworld player threatens his peaceful existence.
The film also stars the 2023 original's actors Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Shivarajkumar, Jaffer Sadiq, and Mohanlal. The new cast additions include Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff, Apeksha Porwal, Mithun Chakraborty, Anna Rajan, Hakkim Shah, Bagavathi Perumal, Meghana Raj, Shamna Kasim, and Jatin Sarna. Further, Hrithik Roshan is also speculated to be part of the cast.
According to reports, Sun Pictures has been keeping Hrithik Roshan's character under wraps, without even showing a glimpse of him in the recently released trailer.
