After a blockbuster run in theatres, Arun Matheswaran-Lokesh Kanagaraj's DC is set to stream on SonyLIV on October 16. It is worth noting that the action drama came out on Sun NXT on September 4. The streamer SonyLIV made the announcement on October 9.
DC is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1917 novel Devdas. The film marks Lokesh Kanagaraj's debut as a lead actor, after he made cameo appearances in other films. It follows an outcast named Devadas (Lokesh), who embarks on a quest for redemption and justice soon after taking revenge against those who hurt an innocent family. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Krish Dayal, Avinash Raghudevan, and Thalaivasal Vijay, among others.
In addition to positive reviews, the film fared well at the box office, collecting over Rs 50 crore. The film was appreciated for giving a new twist to the Devdas story, in addition to its music, performances, and visuals. Before DC, Arun helmed Dhanush-starrer Captain Miller. Meanwhile, Lokesh, after an underwhelming Rajinikanth-led Coolie, returns to directorial duties for his next with Allu Arjun.
