

Director Raja Karuppasamy has been gaining much attention and appreciation after the release of his film Modha Rathri, starring Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar, among others. The film earned appreciation from some of the major stars in the industry, such as Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR, to name two. Recently, he met actor Karthi.
Sharing pictures featuring him and his team with Karthi on social media, the filmmaker said that the actor is a beautiful man both onscreen and off screen with a reference to his 2024 film Meiyazhagan. He also expressed his gratitude to Karthi for taking time off from his busy schedule to meet him and his team. "It was such a great and interactive session. Thank you so much, sir, for your wonderful time," the filmmaker shared.
"You took the time to talk about world cinema, what the next generation of cinema should be, and so many things," Raja Karuppasamy shared, referring to Karthi, before noting that the actor has "genuine concern and love" for cinema. "This means a lot to me and my team. It’s a very big motivation and support for us," the filmmaker signed off.
The Modha Rathri director's post comes a day after the digital premiere of Karthi's film Sardar 2, directed by PS Mithran, and shortly after that of Modha Rathri. Also starring SJ Suryah, Yogi Babu, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Rajisha Vijayan, the Sardar sequel earned around 24 crore from theatres worldwide, according to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk. Sardar 2 is now streaming on Prime Video, where as Raja Karuppasamy's film is on Netflix.
Karthi's upcoming films include Marshal, helmed by Tamizh of Taanakkaran fame, a yet-untitled project with filmmaker Kalyan Shankar, and another film with director Mohan Raja. The actor is also set to return for a sequel to 2019's Kaithi.
