Anagha Maya Ravi has been received much appreciation for her performance, opposite Suriya and Trisha, in director RJ Balaji's Karuppu. At a recent promotional event, the actor spoke about her admiration for Suriya and recalled a memorable incident with her Karuppu co-star.
At the event, Anagha said that Suriya has been her favourite actor since childhood, in addition to Kalabhavan Mani. Interestingly, Suriya had visited the set of Kaathal: The Core, starring Mammootty and Jyotika in the lead roles. The 2023 film also stars Anagha as Mammootty's onscreen daughter. However, Anagha was not present on set on that particular day when Suriya visited the set as she had no shoot for Kaathal: The Core then.
"My assistant called me that morning and asked me to come on video, because I was told that I would have a video call shot for the film. I took up the call, the shot was over in a while and I kept the phone aside. However, Mammootty sir asked me if I was still around. Then, he went out, gave his phone to Jyotika ma'am and the next thing I know, I was seeing Suriya sir in front of me. It is a moment that I can never forget," Anagha Maya Ravi revealed.
Karuppu stars Anagha as a character seeking justice after her jewels get stolen. However, her lawyer also cheats the character and her father, played by Innocent. Eventually, Suriya's titular character, a deity named Karuppasamy, comes to the rescue of not just her but many people deprived of justice.
It was Anagha's performance in Kaathal that made RJ Balaji cast her in Karuppu.
