For Arjun and Abhirami, the upcoming action drama Blast, is a full fledged reunion after 25 years. While they have appeared in Aghathiyaa (2025), they did not share scenes together. In a recent interaction with the press, the actors spoke about reuniting after Vaanavil (2000).
"When I first acted with actress Abhirami, she would only speak Malayalam. She would only speak in broken Tamil then. But now she speaks Tamil wonderfully. At the same time, she has created many achievements as an actress," said Arjun.
Meanwhile Abhirami said, "I am very happy to be standing on this stage. This is my first film to be released this year. I have worked with Arjun again after 25 years. This is also an unforgettable moment. So I thank him." She also pondered on the long gap between Vaanavil (2000) and Blast, and said, "I don't know why it took 25 years for us to work together again."
Vaanavil (2000) was directed by Manoj Kumar and also starred Prakash Raj. The film featured Arjun and Abhirami as UPSC aspirants, who face several hurdles in their journey to become a civil servant. They also have to navigate several complex dynamics as they pursue a romantic relationship.
Blast is written and directed by Subash K Raj, in his debut, and is set to release on May 28. The cast of the film also includes Preity Mukundhan.
