Actor Sriman has been constantly sharing his views on X in support of actor-turned-politician Vijay ever since he made his political entry in 2024. With the votes being counted on Monday, Sriman has shared a throwback to one of the many times he shared the screen with the Jana Nayagan actor.
Vijay's TVK, which contested individually in all 234 constituencies, has been leading in the counting. Vijay contested in the elections from two constituencies, namely, Trichy East and Perambur, and has been leading in both places.
To celebrate TVK's lead, Sriman, who believes Vijay will become the chief minister, has shared a video clipping from the 'Madras Dhost' song from Nenjinile (1999). A line in the song has the actor referring to Vijay as the chief minister. In his post, Sriman was elated to have gotten the opportunity to address his dear friend as the chief minister way before his political entry.
He wrote, "I got the opportunity to tell my nanban chief minister in 1998. Thank you, Makkalay. Makkal theerpay maheysan theerpu. Our CM will work for you. He is genuine at heart. Once he promises, he tries his best to honour his word; he will work sincerely to fulfil all promises."
Sriman and Vijay have been long-time friends and collaborators. They worked on films such as Love Today (1997), Friends (2001), Vaseegara (2003), Pokkiri (2007), Master (2021), and Varisu (2023). Sriman even appeared in Malaysia for the audio launch of Jana Nayagan, Vijay's final film as an actor.
Meanwhile, a few members of the film industry have also been directly and indirectly showing their support for Vijay. Vijay's father, director SA Chandrasekhar, visited the Thiruthani Murugan temple on Monday ahead of the counting.
Meanwhile, actors like Sibi Sathyaraj, Jai, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar have also shared X posts supporting Vijay, either in a straightforward manner or with a hint. Interestingly, Vijay also received support all the way from Bollywood when Tiger Shroff stood in solidarity with the actor.
