Yogi Babu is one of the busiest actors in the South Indian film industry and at any given point in time, he is always working on multiple projects. Among his most-awaited films are Rajinikanth-Nelson's Jailer 2 and Allu Arjun's upcoming AA22xA6 with director Atlee.
In a recent interview with Behindwoods, the actor shared details on the sequel to the 2023 film and his role in the actioner. "I had a brief role in Jailer, but in the sequel, he has tried something different with my character. You have to watch it to understand. It's being made in a grand way and I am sure it would be a massive feast for the audience," he said, placing his trust on the filmmaker for Kamal Haasan-Rajinikanth's KHxRK. "More than Jailer 2, this project would be more challenging for him, but I am sure he would succeed in it. He is confident about it, but regarding my casting in it, he has to take the call," he added.
Jailer 2 will see Rajinikanth reprising his role as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Ramya Krishnan, who plays his wife. While Shivarajkumar has confirmed his cameo reprisal in Jailer 2, the presence of other senior actors like Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff is yet to be confirmed. Vinayakan will also be seen in the upcoming film, despite his character's demise in the 2023 film.
New names added to the ensemble this time around include Jatin Sarna, Mithun Chakraborty, Santhanam, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi, Meghana Raj Sarja and Anna Rajan. Other big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Mirnaa are also expected to be part of the sequel's cast. There is also massive speculations about Shah Rukh Khan playing a cameo as a cop in the sequel.
The actor, who is playing a key role in AA22xA6, also shared his experience working with Atlee for the third time after Bigil (2019) and Jawan (2023). "People like my facial reactions irrespective of languages, but I am only good at Tamil. I am comfortable with Atlee. For Allu Arjun's upcoming film, I tried mixing the languages and speaking, but Allu Arjun himself stopped me and asked me to speak in Tamil. They would correct it in dubbing," he said.
Buzz regarding the project has been sky-high since its announcement last year. Reports suggest that Allu Arjun will be seen playing four different roles in the film, and all these four characters are said to be part of the same family lineage. However, official plot details are currently under wraps. In a recent interview, the filmmaker said they are "doing something new, which will be very intriguing and addictive to watch."
Besides Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone, other prominent actors, including Vijay Sethupathi, Janhvi Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur and Kajol, are also in talks to join the ensemble. However, an official confirmation is awaited. Allu Arjun and Atlee visited leading VFX studios in Los Angeles, including Ironhead Studio and engaged with technicians like Jose Fernandez and James Madigan in the film’s first promotional video, suggesting its VFX-heavy plot. With music composed by Sai Abhyankkar, AA22xA6 is produced by Kalanidhi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner.
Yogi Babu is currently awaiting the release of Kenatha Kanom, directed by late filmmaker Suresh Sangaiah. The film hits theatres on March 13. He is also starring in Suriya's Karuppu and Ravi Mohan's directorial debut An Ordinary Man, among other projects.
