Recently, we reported about Suraj Venjaramoodu confirming his role in filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2, opposite Rajinikanth. In December 12, he called it an honour and a privilege to share the screen with Rajinikanth, as he wished the superstar on his birthday. The actor has reiterated his admiration for his Jailer 2 co-star.
Speaking to Cineulagam, Suraj said that the film has come out superbly and that it would be better than the first part. Meanwhile, speaking about his collaboration with Rajinikanth, he said that he wanted to meet the superstar in person and that acting with him was only in his dreams but did not know whether it would become a reality. "He would surprise us in every single shot and scene. He is that kind of magician," the actor said about his co-star in the film.
A sequel to 2023's Jailer, the film marks the first collaboration between Suraj and Rajinikanth. Recently, Suraj made his debut in Tamil cinema with Veera Dheera Sooran, directed by SU Arun Kumar and co-starring Vikram. Veera Dheera Sooran proved a breakthrough for Suraj in Tamil cinema, as it signalled to other filmmakers that he is open to acting in the industry. It played a role in him getting chances to star in films such as Kara with Dhanush, Jailer 2, and Youth with director Ken Karunaas.
Coming back to the Jailer sequel, reportedly, the film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Jaffer Sadiq, Meghana Raj, and Anna Rajan. Sacred Games star Jatin Sarna plays one of the antagonists in the film. Meanwhile, it is speculated that Mohanlal, Mithun Chakravarti, Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Balan are also part of the cast.
Production on the Jailer sequel has been wrapped. With post-production underway, the film's producer Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures plans to release it in 2026 mid.
