Back in 2024, we reported that Nimisha Sajayan joined hands with National Award-winning screenwriter Sanjeev Pazhoor for her next, titled Enna Vilai. On Friday, the actor shared the first look poster of the upcoming film. Apart from Nimisha, the film also stars Karunas in the lead.
The first-look poster of the sociopolitical thriller features Karunas and a few other cast members standing in the witness box inside a courtroom, while Nimisha Sajayan appears in an advocate’s robe. The film marks the directorial debut of Sanjeev, who has previously written scripts for films like Thondi Muthalum Dhriksakshiyum, for which he won the National Award and Kerala State Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Enna Vilai, a Tamil film which will have a pan-Indian release, is billed to be a family drama laced with thriller elements. Y Gee Mahendran, Rajendran, Vijayalakshmi, Shasha, Praveena, Kamalesh, Goli Soda Pandi, JS Kavi, Mohan Ram, Nizhalgal Ravi, Viviyana, Chetan Kumar, Kavithalaya Krishnan, TSR Sreenivasan, Swaminathan, Kottachi, Deepa Shankar, Chiththa Darshan, Kavi Nakkalities, KPY Kothandam, Pasupathi Raj, and Supergood Subramani round out the cast of the upcoming film.
According to the makers, the sociopolitical thriller has the type of story that can have an emotional wallop of an impact on the audience and can keep them on the edge of their seats. While the makers keep the award in high regard, they emphasise that they have made the film for the big-screen experience, say reports.
Production of the film was wrapped in December 2024. Earlier in May this year, Enna Vilai won the Best Screenplay award named after the maker of India's first-ever film, Raja Harishchandra, at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival.
Enna Vilai has music by Sam CS, cinematography by Alby and editing by Sreejith Sarang. It is produced by Githesh V of Kalamaya Films. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
