Jiiva is reuniting with his Siva Manasula Sakthi (2009) director M Rajesh for his next film, titled Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan, also known as JIO. Earlier this Thursday, the actor dropped a poster offering a first look at his character in the film. The poster shows Jiiva's character clad in all black and whistling, alongside his multiple clones. The film also stars Ivana, Parithabangal Sudhakar, Rethika Srinivas, Abdool Lee, Raj Ayyappa, Bagavathi Perumal, and Hasini Pavithra, among others.
The makers planned to bring Siva Manasula Sakthi back to theatres again this summer, followed by the release of Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan. However, its release has been delayed a little bit. Meanwhile, Jiiva lost his father RB Choudhary, a renowned producer who founded Super Good Films, in a tragic accident.
The makers of JIO are yet to reveal the specifics of its story. However, its recently released glimpse video teases a storyline in which Jiiva's character undergoes a transformation because of the impact of his love life. The film's technical team includes composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, editor Ashish Joseph, and cinematographer M Sukumar.
Production on the film has been wrapped. It is produced by Dato Abdul Malik under the Malik Streams Corporation banner. The makers are expected to announce the release date soon. In addition to releasing the Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan first-look poster, the makers revealed that its teaser is set to drop on June 21, Sunday.
Jiiva was most recently seen in S Saraswathi in a cameo appearance for the Telugu film, directed by and starring Varalaxi Sarathkumar. In Tamil, he last appeared in the political satire Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, directed by Nithish Sahadev. His upcoming projects include a film with director Ra Venkat, best known for Kida. He also has a long-delayed film, a madcap comedy that is akin to Sundar C-Vishal's Madha Gaja Raja.
