Ever since it was announced that Jason Sanjay would make his directorial debut with Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead, the hype around the film has been sky high, especially because Jason is the son of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay.
With the film all set for release this month, Sundeep Kishan has detailed the working experience with the first-time filmmaker. Underlining that he is "extremely hardworking", Sundeep appreciated his calm and patient personality. "He and his team have been working on this project for a very long time. They did the pre-production as well as edit work extensively. One can learn a lot about patience from him, which I was really blown away by. For a 25-year-old to be that patient, calm and clear about what he wanted while directing was amazing," he said in an interview with Variety.
It's been a long time since Sundeep worked with a young filmmaker like Jason and he called it an "interesting experience". "He has studied filmmaking and editing. It was joyful to see him and his team work. It had been a very long time since I worked with a filmmaker that young and it was a very interesting experience. It was an insight into how the present-day generation looks at film narration," he added, sharing how he looks a lot like his father.
Calling him as his "brother", the Raayan actor further praised his "grounded" and "humble" nature.
The ensemble cast includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sampath Raj, Kiran Konda, and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan, along with several cameo appearances. The film wrapped shooting last year.
Previously, speaking about the film, debut director Jason Sanjay said in a statement, “Sigma celebrates the spirit of a lone wolf—a ‘sigma’ who chooses his own path, unbound by societal expectations. The story blends treasure-hunt thrills, heist sequences, and comedy into a high-energy cinematic experience."
Sigma’s core technical crew features music composer Thaman, cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, editor Praveen KL, and art director Benjamin M. The film is slated to release in theatres on July 31.
