

Dhanush is one of the busiest actors in the Tamil cinema industry now with several films in his kitty. While he is currently working on Om, his 55th film with Amaran director Rajkumar Periasamy, curiosity regarding his 56th film with Lubber Pandhu filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu is already high on the internet.
Many fans and film enthusiasts are already probing about the film, but the director isn't ready to share any details just as of yet. When a X user asked him if an update on D56 come on Dhanush's birthday?, Tamizharasan said, "It won't come brother. Any update on the film will only come after D55's release. If at all you want, I can share details on the costume designer for the film. That's the strength I have for now." His tongue-in-cheek response has put an end to fans relentlessly seeking an update on Dhanush's next.
Earlier, in similar fashion, Tamizharasan had revealed the art director's name as Veeramani Ganesan for D56 when another X user asked for an update.
Much details regarding D56 are unknown as Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's film is currently in its early stages. The filmmaker recently shared a black-and-white photo of him sitting in a village temple, confirming that he has started recce for the project, hinting at a rural drama. Dhanush had also expressed his excitement for the project.
In March, Uriyadi (2016) and Election (2024)-fame Vijay Kumar hinted at joining the yet-to-be-titled film. There are also speculations about Rukmini Vasanth joining the cast which is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, D55 aka Om: Chapter 1 - Udhiram (The Blood Wood) has begun its final schedule in Malaysia. Scheduled to open in theatres on October 16, the upcoming film features a star-studded cast consisting of Mammootty, Naseeruddin Shah, Indrans, Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi, among others.
Besides Om and D56, Dhanush also has is also set to reunite with Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for a film which will feature music by AR Rahman. It was recently revealed that Dhanush will also join hands once again with Vetri Maaran for Thamizh Murugan, written by noted author Arivumathi.
Some reports suggested him joining hands with PS Mithran for a film backed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and another with Siva, which are yet to be confirmed. Also in his pipeline are his Ilaiyaraaja and APJ Abdul Kalam biopics—the production development details of which are scanty.
