It's been more than a year since we saw actor-turned-Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan on the big screens. The actor was last seen in Thug Life, helmed by Mani Ratnam in June 2025. Ever since, the actor has been busy with his political duties, with almost no updates from his film front.
The actor was, however, set to collaborate with the stunt duo Anbariv for their directorial debut, tentatively titled KH237. However, ever since the project was announced, updates on the film's production have been scanty, with recent reports suggesting delays due to CGI work. The makers are yet to confirm the same.
Meanwhile, as per several recent reports, Kamal Haasan is all set to join hands with director SU Arun Kumar for his next directorial. The film is speculated to be backed by Raaj Kamal Films International, Kamal Haasan's home banner. However, the makers are yet to officially announce the same.
SU Arun Kumar, who made his directorial debut with Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, has also helmed Sindhubaadh and Sethupathi. His Chithha, starring Siddharth, was a hit, following which he helmed Vikram in Veera Dheera Sooran—Part 2, which was also critically acclaimed.
Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, is reportedly filming for the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, helmed by Nag Ashwin. For the unversed, Kamal played an extended cameo in a key role in the first Prabhas starrer. The film ended with his totalitarian God-King, Supreme Yaskin, regaining his ultimate strength and being ready for war. The actor is expected to have a more prominent role in the second film.
The actor is also set to join hands with Rajinikanth for KHxRK reunion, helmed by Nelson. The film will mark their first onscreen collaboration in more than four decades. If reports are to be believed, the film will go on floors only after Kamal's film with Arun Kumar is completed.
Kamal Haasan, on the production front, also has Dharman, helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring Rajinikanth. The film has just gone on floors. He is also backing Sivakarthikeyan's Seyon, helmed by Sivakumar Murugesan.
