Actor Anandhi Ajay, who has played brief roles in films like Gatta Kusthi 2 and the recent Suriya-starrer Karuppu, has now shared a teary-eyed video about her scenes being cut from the final version of CM Vijay's farewell film Jana Nayagan.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Anandhi broke down in tears, calling herself unlucky while expressing her disappointment on her scenes being removed from the actioner. "Although I have been acting in several films, many scenes of mine have been cut from them. I have not felt sad for that, but for Jana Nayagan when the same thing happened, I felt extremely upset. This was my first signed film and I have been waiting for the release for the last one and a half years," she shared, revealing that she had few scenes with Vijay himself.
"I came to the film industry hoping to get an opportunity to work with Vijay sir. It was my dream. The film was amazing, especially with its women empowerment angle. Everyone should watch it. If Vijay is continuing to act, we can try further to get another role alongside him, but this is his last film. I went with all happiness to see my role on screen, but I didn't expect that it will get edited out. I feel very unlucky," she added.
Previously, she had posted a few pictures from Karuppu along with Kaali Venkat, opening up on her scenes being removed, despite which she felt the experience working in the movie gave her happiness. "Very happy that I was casted in this movie experience is important I learnt a lot from this team. Thank you RJ Balaji and Dream Warrior Pictures for this beautiful opportunity. Congratulations on this mega blockbuster Suriya. Always fan of yours. U look so pretty on screen Trisha ma'am. Hope to work soon in upcoming projects," she wrote, stating her sadness on her scenes not making it to the final cut.
Jana Nayagan, Vijay's swansong, has been running houseful in theatres after it opened on Thursday. The release marked the end of a six-month-long delay for the film which was stuck in the cans due to a prolonged battle with the CBFC. On its opening day, it collected a net of Rs 41 crore across 13,067 shows. This brought the total India gross collections to Rs 48.27 crore. The actioner had achieved a staggering worldwide gross collection of Rs 78.27 crore. Going by the numbers, it is easily set to cross the Rs 200 crore mark within a few days.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and Bobby Deol, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani.
