Vishnuu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi's Gatta Kusthi 2 continued its impressive opening weekend run by registering its highest single-day collection on Sunday. Riding on positive word of mouth and weekend footfalls, the family drama has now collected Rs 18.78 crore worldwide in its first three days.
According to sacnilk.com, Gatta Kusthi 2 earned Rs 7.13 crore gross (Rs 6.20 crore net) on Sunday, surpassing its Saturday haul of Rs 5.69 crore gross (Rs 4.95 crore net). The film had opened with Rs 3.11 crore gross (Rs 2.70 crore net) on Friday.
With this, the film's three-day collections stand at Rs 15.93 crore gross in India and Rs 2.85 crore overseas, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 18.78 crore. The cumulative India net collection currently stands at Rs 13.85 crore.
Tamil Nadu continued to drive the film's performance, contributing Rs 6.25 crore gross on Sunday alone. The state has now generated Rs 14.05 crore of the film's Rs 15.93 crore India gross, underlining the film's strong hold in its home market. Karnataka has contributed Rs 1.10 crore so far, while Kerala has added Rs 0.58 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rs 0.08 crore, and the rest of India Rs 0.12 crore.
The film has shown healthy day-on-day growth throughout the weekend, climbing from Rs 3.11 crore on Friday to Rs 5.69 crore on Saturday before peaking at Rs 7.13 crore on Sunday. The consistent upward trend suggests that audience reception strengthened over the weekend rather than tapering off after the opening day.
Another encouraging sign is the steady expansion in the film's theatrical footprint. While it released across 2,109 tracked shows on Friday, the count increased to 2,177 on Saturday and further to 2,400 on Sunday, reflecting exhibitors' confidence in the film's performance. Saturday occupancy had already risen to 38% from 26% on opening day, and Sunday's higher collections indicate that the weekend momentum continued.
Helmed by Chella Ayyavu, Gatta Kusthi 2 also stars Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Karunaas, Munishkanth, Kaali Venkat, Lizzie Antony, Gajaraj, Sreeja Ravi, Karunakaran, Zara Zyanna, and Mokksha, among others. The film features technical work by cinematographer KM Bhaskaran, editor Barath Vikraman and composer Sean Roldan.
An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "Nevertheless, Gatta Kusthi 2 does a lot of things right, especially with the character of Mathi, who talks and behaves like a first-standard girl. She isn’t asked to act much beyond her years, and it is a welcome relief."
