

Actor Shanmuga Pandian, last seen alongside Sarath Kumar in Kombuseevi, has joined hands with Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai-fame director Thiru for his next. The film was announced by the makers, Captain Cine Creations, through an official statement on Thursday. The statement also read that further details about the extended cast and crew of the film, tentatively titled Production Number 9, will be announced later.
Shanmuga Pandian, son of actor and politician Vijayakanth, started his career with Sagaptham in 2015. The film was backed by his uncle, LK Sudhish, under the Captain Cine Creations banner. A Rajya Sabha MP, LK Sudhish is also backing the upcoming film under the banner.
Shanmuga Pandian has also starred in Madura Veeran, Padai Thalaivan, and the most recent, Kombuseevi. Thiru, on the other hand, started his directorial career with Vishal's Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai. He then helmed films like Naan Sigappu Manithan and Samar. His most recent work is the JioHotstar series, Jhansi.
Vijayakanth and LK Sudhish began Captain Cine Creations with their first production, Vallarasu, in 2000. Other films they've produced include Narasimha, Thennavan, Engal Anna, Sudesi, Arasangam, and Vijayakanth's only directorial venture, Viruthagiri.
