Shanmuga Pandian Vijayakant, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Kombuseevi, shared in an exclusive conversation with TNIE that filming certain portions was dangerous and the people of Theni volunteered to help the crew for the love and respect of his late father, actor-politician Vijayakant.
Elaborating about the shooting experience, Shanmuga Pandian said, "Though I had extensively shot for Padai Thalaivan in forests, I wasn't prepared for this. Some sequences required shooting on a hill. It was not conducive to climbing. It's a free fall if you slip. Also, since those sequences required several wide shots as well, it was impossible to hatch a net around the hill." He added that the villagers volunteered to help the film crew. "The villagers said that they began admiring Appa after he shot a train action sequence in this location. Since they also knew the hang of climbing this hill, they helped us in carrying the equipment above."
Ponram, who has made Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam, Rajini Murugan, and DSP, is collaborating with actor Shanmuga Pandian for the first time. The rest of the star cast of Kombuseevi also comprises stars Kaali Venkat, Kalki Raja, and Tharnika in supporting roles. In addition to Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film has cinematographer Balasubramaniem, editor Dinesh Ponnuraj, and action choreographers Phoenix Prabhu and Saravana Sakthi in its technical team. Kombuseevi is produced by Mukesh Chelliah of Star Cinemas.
Kombuseevi is getting a theatrical release on December 19.
