Director Vignesh Karthick's anthology film Hot Spot 2 Much hit theatres last week, and it has opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences in general. According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned 1.3 crore from theatres worldwide over the first five days of its release. There has also been some discourse around the film's exploration of certain socially relevant topics. For example, the film talks about toxic fan wars and women's freedom to dress how they want. Some audiences found the film's theme about women is problematic, but director Vignesh objected to this criticism the other day.
A while ago, Vishnu Vishal, who serves as a presenter for the film under his namesake production banner, revealed that he wished to join the film specifically for the discourse it has spurred. "Happy that Hot Spot 2 Much is creating discussions.. Wanted to be a part of this movie for this exact reason.. Good job by all the youngsters," Vishnu wrote on social media.
The actor-producer-presenter also congratulated the film's director Vignesh and producer KJ Balamanimarbhan for a job "well done". He also made a request to those who are yet to watch the film in theatres to do so.
The Hot Spot sequel stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, MS Bhaskar, Thambi Ramaiah, Rakshan, Ashwin Kumar, Aadhitya Baaskar, and Bhavani Sre, among others.
