Fresh off the release of Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi, the film's director, Sudha Kongara, has opened up about the cameo appearances in the film. Basil Joseph, Rana Daggubati and Dhananjaya, from the Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada industries, respectively, were seen in special appearances in the film.

In a recent interview with Cineulagam, Sudha revealed that she even thought of Abhishek Bachchan for a cameo initially. "Early on, I wanted actors of the respective languages to represent the historical figures in the film. Back then, we wanted to include a lot of such personalities who were part of the anti-Hindi movement. In fact, I even asked Abhishek Bachchan if he would be interested in playing one such cameo in the film."

Parasakthi crosses Rs 100 crores in worldwide collections

Sudha also approached Vijay Deverakonda for a cameo, but it didn't work out. "But eventually, we couldn't fit in too many cameos either. When such cameos were executed in Jailer, I regretted how my idea was taken up by another film. But they did a beautiful job. It felt apt for my film, as it is language-based. Long back, I asked Vijay Deverakonda for Rana Daggubati's Michael Reddy cameo, but he was busy with the Kingdom shoot."

Interestingly, back when Suriya's Soorarai Pottru was released in 2020, Vijay Deverakonda praised the film and wrote on X (then Twitter), "I will work with you soon. This is me professing my admiration for you as a director." However, their collaboration is yet to materialise.

Parasakthi, based on the anti-Hindi agitations, also stars Atharvaa, Sreeleela and Ravi Mohan in lead roles. The film hit theatres on January 10 and opened to mixed reviews. Produced by Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures, the film has cinematography by Ravi K Chandran, editing by Sathish Suriya and music composed by GV Prakash. For the latter, the film marks his 100th as a composer.
