The makers of Parasakthi revealed that the film has crossed Rs 100 crores in box office collections, worldwide. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film was released in theatres on January 10.
The film follows the story of Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan), and his part in the anti-Hindi agitations of 1960's Tamil Nadu. Parasakthi opened strongly by collecting Rs 12.5 crores in India. It then went on to collect Rs 36.25 crores on the first week alone, in India.
The cast of the film also includes Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, Atharvaa, Dev Ramnath, and Chetan. Basil Joseph, Rana Daggubati, and Dhananjaya make cameo appearances in the film.
Parasakthi is composer GV Prakash Kumar's 100th film as a music composer. He previously won a National Award for his work on director Sudha's previous work, Soorarai Pottru.
