

The other day, actor Krishna announced his next project, a film titled The Mummy Returns, to be directed by Jai Amar Singh. The film's cast and crew attended an unveiling and pooja function, alongside Krishna's filmmaker brother Vishnuvardhan and director I Ahmed. "With immense joy and gratitude, our Tamil film “THE MUMMY RETURNS” officially begins its journey today," the actor wrote on social media. The film also stars Lollu Sabha Maaran, Redin Kingsley, Bjorn Surrao, Devadarshini, and Swathi Muppala. PJ Kishore is producing the film under his Pepin De Raisin banner. The title is the same as that of director Stephen Sommers' 2001 sequel to the action-adventure film The Mummy. However, according to DT Next, it is a family drama. The makers are yet to reveal further details about the project, whether it be its plot or additional cast.
Director Jai Amar Singh's other credits include College Road (2022), starring Lingesh, Monica Chinnakotla, and Ananth Nag, and a television serial titled Malar.
On the technical front, The Mummy Returns has music by Sam CS, cinematography by Karthick Subramaniam, and editing by JV Manikanda Balaji. With its official pooja function completed, the film has commenced production as well.
Known for his roles in films such as Kazhugu, Nibunan, and Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha, among others, the actor is yet to have a release in the last two years. He most recently appeared as a police officer in the JioHotstar series Parachute. Since then, he went through a widely discussed drug bust case, also involving actor Srikanth. The actor's upcoming films include the tentatively titled KK 25, where he plays a police officer. Directed by debutant Balakrishnan, known for his work as a co-director on GV Prakash's Rebel, the film's production has been wrapped.
