After clearing hurdles, Sivakarthikeyan's much-anticipated film Parasakthi has received its censor certificate and is on track to release for Saturday, January 10. However, several scenes from the Sudha Kongara-directorial have met the censor board's axe which includes muting and replacing of many words such as multiple swear phrases. The dialogue "Thee Paravattum" has been modified as "Neethi Paravattum", while a dialogue that says, "Hindi en kanavai alithathu" has been changed as "En orey kanavai Hindi thinippu erithathu." Visuals of a burning effigy with the words 'Hindi Arakki' has also been removed.

Ever since Parasakthi was revealed to revolve around the anti-Hindi agitations that happened in Tamil Nadu during the 1960s, the film was expected to have strong political themes. The censor board's cuts have been reportedly made to avoid hurting sentiments. The move has triggered severe backlash on social media, with many calling it a bid to tighten censorship and restrict the creative freedom of filmmakers.
