After its theatrical run, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami and Aditi Rao Hydari's critically acclaimed film Gandhi Talks is all set for OTT premiere. Streaming platform ZEE5 announced that it will be available for streaming from March 6 in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. A silent film, Gandhi Talks, is directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar, best known for helming Marathi films such as Sa Sasucha and Yeda.
Announced in 2021, the film went on floors in 2022. After completion of filming and editing, Gandhi Talks was the first silent film played at the 23rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa in 2023. It had its theatrical release on on January 30, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary following which the film received positive reviews from audiences and critics.
According to the official synopsis, the film shows a young, unemployed graduate, Mahadev’s struggle to land a job through any means possible, has him cross paths with a businessman and petty thief.
An excerpt from our CE review of the film reads, "Gandhi Talks is a painting, but half the canvas is a written instruction on how to read the painting. As for its messages, the film is also an unintentional reminder of that one burning question that underlines the foundations of modern India. At a time when forces beyond our comprehension fight with each other to define what it means to be Indian, do the values of the man whose face is on our currency, still matter?"
With AR Rahman as the composer, the rest of the technical crew comprises cinematographer Karan B Rawat and editor Ashish Mhatre.
ZEE Studios created Gandhi Talks in collaboration with KYOORIUS, Pincmoon, and Movie Mill Entertainment. The film's producers are Rajesh Kejriwal, Gurpal Sachar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Meera Chopra, and Kishor P. Belekar, with Anil Bhandari serving as a co-producer.
