Earlier today, we reported about Kamal Haasan's production banner Raaj Kamal Films International confirming Don fame Cibi Chakravarthi as the director for its next film starring Rajinikanth. Hours before the news even became official, some netizens started speculating about it, with Cibi's name thrown into the mix. Some even said Cibi once missed out on a project with Rajinikanth and that the speculated confirmation of his involvement in the upcoming film is a case of life coming full circle for him. A while ago, Cibi himself confirmed that he once talked to Rajinikanth about a project, although it did not come to fruition, and said that this latest development is a result of his constant pursuit of his dream.
"Once, a small-town boy’s big dream was to meet his favourite star “SUPER STAR” and take a picture with him, which drove his passion towards cinema — and the big dream happened one day. Then he had the biggest dream of directing his Superstar. He came so close, but got missed," Cibi wrote. The filmmaker added, "Then he continued to believe it would happen one day — and today is that day. Thalaivar 173 Day. And I remember Thalaivar saying, 'Dreams do come true. Miracles do happen.'"
Cibi Chakravarthi also said that he did not even dream about having Kamal Haasan as one of the producers of the film, alongside R Mahendran. The filmmaker, known for directing Don, starring Sivakarthikeyan, expressed his gratitude to Rajinikanth, Kamal, and Mahendran for choosing him for the film. "I promise to put my heart and soul to keep up the trust," the filmmaker added. Cibi also expressed his excitement about reuniting with his Don composer Anirudh for his next film. "So happy to be working again with my dearest Anirudh sir. Love you sir," the filmmaker wrote.
