Ahead of Jana Nayagan's release, director H Vinoth has weighed in on the long-standing viral claim that the much-anticipated actioner would be a remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna's Bhagavanth Kesari. Speaking to Ananda Vikatan magazine, the filmmaker neither confirmed nor denied the speculations while reiterating what he revealed during the audio launch of the film.

"I would like to say again that fans need not worry about whether the film would be a remake of Bhagavanth Kesari or have few scenes inspired from it," he remarked, adding, "For now I cannot say if Jana Nayagan is a remake of Bhagavanth Kesari or not. Those who think if it's a remake film, and question why they have to watch it again, I suggest you to wait until the first show ends. You will get the answer at the time. The trailer and songs will also give you a clarity. But what I can say is that it is a Thalapathy film."

Previously, H Vinoth spoke about what to expect from the film during the audio launch held in Malaysia. "It is a hundred per cent engaging and entertaining film. There are moments meant to be celebrated with song and dance, and there are moments that will make you pause and reflect on the message being conveyed. The final fifteen minutes are designed as a farewell, but without heaviness or tears. Instead, they will leave the audience with hope, because there is no ‘the end’ for Thalapathy Vijay.”

Jana Nayagan stars an ensemble cast and is said to revolve around Vijay’s role as a police officer. Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol essay pivotal roles. The rest of the cast members are: Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and others.

Bhagavanth Kesari, released in 2023, featured Kajal Aggarwal, Sreeleela and Arjun Rampal in leading roles. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the film earned the Best Feature Film in Telugu at the 71st National Film Awards.
