Silambarasan has urged producers and audiences to give smaller Tamil films greater visibility, citing debutant Raja Karuppasamy’s recently released Modha Rathri as an example.
Sharing his thoughts on social media after watching the rural comedy, the actor said he enjoyed the film’s writing and its portrayal of a village wedding unfolding over a single night. He particularly appreciated the way the film brings together several characters and situations while retaining a sense of realism. “A story unfolding over a single night, set around a village wedding, with so many characters and little moments that felt so real,” he wrote.
Silambarasan also pointed out that Tamil audiences often celebrate distinctive films from other industries and suggested that homegrown films attempting something different deserve similar encouragement. He called on producers to provide smaller films with the visibility required to find their audience, saying, “Good content deserves to be discovered.”
Directed by Raja Karuppasamy in his debut, Modha Rathri stars Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead. The film revolves around the events surrounding a newly married couple and the chaos that unfolds during their wedding night. Chetan, A Venkatesh, Bagavathi Perumal, Abdool Lee and Shelly Kishore are also part of the cast. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers and released in theatres on August 21.
Silambarasan concluded his post by congratulating Raja Karuppasamy and the entire team, adding to the positive word of mouth surrounding the film.
On the work front, Silambarasan is currently busy with the shoot of Vetri Maaran's Arasan. The cast of the film also includes Vijay Sethupathi, Yogi Babu, Yogalakshmi, and Jibin Gopinath, with Samuthirakani and Andrea Jeremiah reprising their roles from Vada Chennai (2018).
