

After several years, veteran actor Prabhu is set to headline a film as the sole lead. Produced by Romeo Pictures in its 11th production venture, the upcoming film will be directed by Franklin Jacob who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Writer (2021), starring Samuthirakani in the lead role.
The makers announced the project on Friday with a first-look poster featuring an unrecognisable Prabhu seated on a chair. The intriguing poster is filled with several mysterious elements, including a running track, a jail, an eerie-looking empty house and a rope, hinting at a possible suicide. The film’s title and plot details are being kept under wraps for now.
The film's launch took place on Friday with Prabhu, composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, along with directors Pa Ranjith and Arun Matheswaran attending the pooja ceremony.
Other members of the technical team include cinematographer Pratheep Kaliraja, editor Prasanna GK and art direction by Sakthee Venkatraj M.
Prabhu was last seen in Kavin's Kiss, directed by Sathish Krishnan. Up next, he has Marshal with Karthi and Hi, once again reuniting with Kavin who stars alongside Nayanthara. He is also joining hands with Sukanya on a new project, after 31 years, titled Mary Gold. After being active in '80s and '90s as the lead, the actor has been prominently seen in supporting roles. He has also played lead alongside young actors including Rajaputhiran (2025) with Vetri; Vetrivel (2016) with Sasikumar, to name a few in the last decade. However, this upcoming film from Franklin Jacob will mark his reunion to play a full-fledged leading role.
