On Monday, Vijay Television announced a brand new reality game show in the Bigg Boss world. This announcement is a follow-up to the one made by Vijay Sethupathi back in June, revealing that a commoner can now be a part of the Bigg Boss competition.
Titled Bigg Boss Common Man, the upcoming show will be hosted by former Bigg Boss contestant Maya S Krishnan and will be judged by her fellow contestants from various seasons, Oviya, Raju Jeyamohan, and Aari Arjunan. Set to premiere on August 16, the reality game show will feature common folk as contestants, and one lucky winner will be eligible to contest in Bigg Boss season 10.
In order to be admitted into the Bigg Boss Tamil house, participants have to complete a number of challenges, assessments, and screening rounds. The Telugu spin-off Bigg Boss Agnipariksha, which once functioned as a digital pre-show for choosing non-celebrity competitors in the Telugu version of the franchise, is said to have acted as the model for the format.
Vijay Sethupathi is, meanwhile, set to return as the host of Bigg Boss season 10, which is expected to start in October. The previous season saw wildcard contestant Divya Ganesh bagging the trophy.
Oviya was a part of the very first season of Bigg Boss Tamil. Although she quit the show on Day 42, owing to ill mental health, the contestant gained massive traction and following for her bold gameplay inside the house. She was the first contestant for whom an army of followers was created amongst the common public, called the Oviya Army
Aari, on the other hand, was the title winner of Bigg Boss Tamil season 4. Balaji and Rio Raj were the runners-up of the season. Meanwhile, Raju Jeyamohan emerged as the winner of season 5, beating Priyanka Deshpande. Maya was the second runner-up in season 7. Interestingly, all these contestants come from seasons hosted by Kamal Haasan.
