Suriya spoke about the power of one of Madurai's deities, Karuppusamy, as the divine driving force behind his 45th outing, Karuppu, at the film's audio launch on Sunday. The film is helmed by RJ Balaji, who will also be playing an extended cameo role in it.

First off, Suriya was high in praise of RJ Balaji. He said, "RJ Balaji is multi-talented — I see myself as Suriya, but he sees himself as a director, actor, commentator, and everything at once." Further, he extended his gratitude to the director for giving him the character in Karuppu. "I thank my director for giving me this opportunity—to perform this way and to be seen this way.

Sai Abhyankkar is the music composer for Karuppu, which intially had AR Rahman in the department. On his work, Suriya shared, "Sai, you are a very special talent. You have a massive future ahead of you. When I first met him, he said he makes 1,000 tunes a day. When the film comes on screen, it will be a massive experience in terms of music.”

Then, Suriya channelled his inner spirituality and bowed down to the divine power of Karuppusamy, one of Madurai's most prayed-to deities and a guardian god. "I think Karuppusamy is the reason this film came this far. I am really seeing the effect that happens when God comes into a person. Where there is faith, miracles will certainly happen. In this film, I am not the hero. Karuppusamy is the hero," he expressed.
