After 12 days in theatres, Pradeep Ranganathan's latest film Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), directed by Vignesh Shivan, is continuing to witness a drastic drop in revenue. After earning Rs 22.70 crore in its first weekend at the box office in India, the sci-fi romantic comedy saw the collections dip signficantly in the second week.
After day 5, the film managed to earn just close to Rs 2 crore. It plunged further during its third week, with Monday and Tuesday recording the lowest collections with Rs 64 lakh and Rs 63 lakh respectively.
The film’s total collections in India have reached Rs 44.83 crore gross and Rs 38.83 crore net so far. In overseas markets, it has earned Rs 11.10 crore, taking its overall worldwide gross to Rs 55.93 crore. All three previous films of Pradeep Ranganathan, that he headlined, have crossed Rs 100 crore worldwide.
Besides Pradeep, Krithi Shetty, and SJ Suryah also star in lead roles in LIK. Gouri Kishan, Yogi Babu, Seeman, Shah Ra, Malavika, Mysskin, Anandaraj and Sunil Reddy, among others play supporting roles.
LIK, set in 2040, revolves around Suriyan's (SJ Suryah) eponymous app that monitors the love lives of couples and helps them insure their relationships. When his new app feature 'love score' hints at a failure in his relationship with Dheema (Krithi Shetty), Pradeep Ranganathan's Vibe Vassey is determined to prove it wrong and thwart the plans of Suriyan.
Upon release, the film received mixed reviews. An excerpt from our CE review of the film read, "What salvages the film to an extent is the intermittent flair in the performances. Pradeep, with some new wacky gestures, helplessly trudges through his less-than-unidimensional character. SJ Suryah and Seeman steal the show on more than one occasion. However banal it may be for a particular scene to have SJ Suryah utter long lines, he carries an infectious gusto, making his presence enjoyable."
Anirudh has scored music for LIK, continuing his collaboration with Vignesh Shivan. The crew of the film also includes Ravi Varman as the director of photography, Pradeep E Ragav as the editor. It is jointly produced by Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio.
