

Kara trailer: The trailer for the Dhanush headlined action drama, Kara, has been released by the makers. Directed by Vignesh Raja, who made his debut with Por Thozhil (2022), the action drama is set to open in theatres on April 30.
The trailer opens with an announcement on Doordarshan that the Gulf War of 1991, has lead to the burning of oil wells in Iraq. This has leads to a fuel crises in Tamil Nadu. Bharathan (Suraj Venjaramoodu), a cop, is investigating a series of bank robberies conducted by Karasaami aka Kara (Dhanush), a reformed robber, who plunges back to his thieving ways as the fuel crises pushes him into survival mode. As the people around him doubt his redemption, Kara has to navigate resistance on multiple fronts. Alfred Prakash has written for the film along with director Vignesh.
Kara features Mamitha Baiju as Selli, Jayaram as Muthu Selvan, KS Ravikumar as Kandhasaami, Suraj Venjaramoodu as Bharathan, and Karunaas as Kasi Maayan, Sreeja Ravi as Dhanam, and Prithvi Pandiarajan as Murugesan. National Award winning actor, MS Bhaskar is also part of the film, with his character yet to be revealed.
GV Prakash Kumar is composing music for the upcoming film, continuing his collaboration with Dhanush after Idli Kadai (2025). Dhanush is also writing lyrics for the film's soundtrack, with Yuga Bharathi, Uma Devi, Arunraja Kamaraj, Karthik Netha, and Arivu.
The crew of the film includes Theni Eswar as the director of photography, Sreejith Sarang as the editor, Mayapandi as the art director, and Dinesh Kasi as the action director.
Ishari K Ganesh has produced the film under his Vels Film International banner, with Kushmita Ganesh serving as a co-producer.
