Earlier this Thursday, actor-politician Vijay reiterated that there is a conspiracy behind the Karur Stampede and suggested that his film Jana Nayagan has been delayed because of a political agenda. The stampede, which took place at Vijay's political rally in Karur, contributed to 41 casualties and left many others injured. The actor filed his nomination documentation for the constituency Tiruchirappalli East and said that "a joint machination" is behind the stampede.
"I, who have come to ask justice for you, also want justice," said the TVK chief before claiming that there is also a conspiracy behind the delay in the release of his film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth.
Vijay asked people to vote for his party with the whistle symbol over the BJP and DMK and claimed that the ruling party is making new 'false' promises, having failed to satisfy its 2021 electoral commitments.
He insinuated that the DMK is incapable of providing basic facilities and ensuring people's safety before rhetorically asking people to remove them from power. At the same time, he criticised the state and central government for the lack of LPG in India for their lack of planning and regulation of the supplies.
As reported earlier, Vijay is set to contest from both Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. Meanwhile, his film Jana Nayagan, which is set to mark his departure from cinema for a full-time career in politics, is still awaiting censorship clearance. According to the latest reports, the movie is likely to hit theatres in the final week of April, with its KVN Productions banner having already withdrawn its petition against the Censor Board and having agreed to the the film certification authority's terms.
