Preethi Asrani, last seen in Election, can be seen alongside Kavin in Sathish Krishnan's directorial debut, Kiss, this weekend. Meanwhile, next Friday, she will be seen in her Malayalam debut co-starring Shane Nigam, in Balti. Coming up next, she has SJ Suryah's directorial comeback, Killer.
In a recent exclusive conversation with Cinema Express, Preethi Asrani shared details about her role in Killer and how she came onboard. "I feel truly blessed to be a part of Killer. Suryah sir even showed me all 80 auditions that were held for the film, and it made me wonder what I did differently to be chosen," she said, adding that she believes in the luck factor when it comes to such rare opportunities.
On working with SJ Suryah and what to expect from her in the film, she further continued, "Working with him is a real blessing. Just like the title suggests, my character too will be ‘killer’ on screen—it’s going to be very entertaining." Additionally, Preethi also said that she is working on another project, the details of which will be revealed soon.
Killer marks SJ Suryah's return to directing 10 years after 2015's Isai. SJ Suryah is not only directing the film but has also penned the screenplay and will portray the protagonist in it. He reunites with AR Rahman, who will be scoring the music for the film.
Killer is described as a pan-Indian thriller with a blend of action, comedy, and romance. Suryah himself has revealed that it would be like a blend of his directorial Kushi, the 2000 film starring Vijay and Jyotika, and a James Bond film. The film is produced by Sree Gokulam Movies, marking its debut in Tamil cinema, in association with Suryah's Angel Studios.
Killer has been in production since the end of June. According to reports, the film would be shot in India and abroad. It will be released in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
Meanwhile, Preethi, who is known for her brief roles in Telugu films such as Malli Raava, Happy Wedding, and Seetimaarr, made her Tamil debut with Ayothi in 2023. She then starred alongside Vijay Kumar in Election in 2024.
