After DNA, Atharvaa Murali is all set to be seen in yet another crime thriller, Thanal. Directed by Ravindra Madhava and produced by M John Peter under Annai Film Production, the action drama is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on September 12.
Atharvaa, who is still basking in the success of DNA, has raised audience expectations for Thanal. As per a press note, director Ravindra Madhava said the film will balance intensity with surprise: “Thanal will be an emotional tug of war with ample action and unexpected twists. It’s about two people firmly rooted in their ideologies, unwilling to give up no matter what. The story follows an ex-army man, fuelled by a lifetime of suffering, embarking on a vengeful quest, until a police constable with a painful past, transformed into a dutiful son, stands in his way.”
When it came to casting, Madhava said the choices were clear: “While penning the script, I knew the protagonist had to embody both innocence and fury, a young man determined to stop at nothing. Atharvaa Murali was the natural choice, as he effortlessly brings depth to such roles. For the ex-army role, I wanted an actor with the same layered traits. After much thought, Ashwin Kakamanu was my pick, and I’m certain the audience will celebrate his performance.”
The film pairs Atharvaa with Lavanya Tripathi and also stars Sha Ra, Bhaarath, Lakshmi Priyaa, and Azhagam Perumal in key roles.
On the technical front, Thanal boasts a strong team comprising music composer Justin Prabhakaran, cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan, editor Kalaivannan R, and lyricist Karthik Netha.
Thanal hits theatres with a slew of other films, including GV Prakash's Blackmail, Arjun Das' Bomb, and Kumaran Thangarajan's Kumaara Sambavam.
