Actor-producer Ravi Mohan has alleged that his ongoing legal battle with a beverage company over the title Bro Code began after he refused to feature their product in his upcoming film. The new film, directed by Karthik Yogi of Dikkiloona fame, also features SJ Suryah, Arjun Ashokan, and Shraddha Srinath in the lead, along with Ravi Mohan, who is bankrolling this film under his Ravi Mohan Studios banner, which he launched recently.

In a press statement issued by his team, Ravi said that representatives from the beverage company had approached him with a proposal to promote their alcoholic brand in the movie, an offer he claims to have declined. “#BroCode beverages team asked Ravi Mohan to promote their brand in the film. Ravi Mohan refused it, as it would set a wrong example,” read the note, which also stated that Ravi Mohan Studios had previously registered the Bro Code title and its artistic work under the entertainment category.

Ravi further alleged that the company’s move to approach the Delhi High Court was a reaction to his refusal. “The beverage company has registered a case in Delhi against the title and has not challenged the Madras High Court verdict so far,” the statement continued, adding that the Madras High Court continues to uphold his studio’s rights over the title. The interim order, which prevents the beverage company from interfering with his title usage, has been extended until November 21, 2025.

He also accused the company of using the legal proceedings as a marketing tactic, saying, “The beverage company is planning to launch their brand in Tamil Nadu, so they have started this publicity stunt to push the brand in TN.”

On Tuesday, however, the Delhi High Court issued an order restraining Ravi Mohan Studios from using the title Bro Code for promotional purposes. The order came in response to a trademark infringement suit filed by IndoBevs, which owns the Bro Code name for its range of alcoholic and ready-to-drink beverages. The court observed that the film’s title was identical to the registered trademark and could potentially mislead consumers by implying an association with the beverage brand.

The film, set for release in theatres next year, also stars Sri Gouri Priya, Malavika Manoj, Upendra Limaye and Aishwarya Raj in prominent roles. A promo, which was released recently, garnered significant appreciation from audiences.

Bro Code's technical crew includes composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar of Animal and Arjun Reddy fame, cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji, known for Por Thozhil, and editor Pradeep E Ragav. Costume designer Ruchi Munoth, art director Rajesh A, and stunt choreographer Mahesh Mathew are also a part of the crew.
