We had previously reported that Rajinikanth is expected to join hands with noted actor-director Sundar C for a new film, 28 years after Arunachalam. While an official announcement regarding the same is awaited, it has been rumoured that Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) will be backing this project.
Details are under wraps, but speculations are rife that this film would be a fun-filled family entertainer in line with Sundar C's strong zone. It will begin immediately after the completion of Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2, which is slated to hit theatres on June 12 next year after which Rajinikanth will join the much-awaited project with Kamal Haasan. If the rumours turn out to be true, it will mean that Rajinikanth will be working in two RKFI projects back-to-back.
Sundar C is currently busy with the production of Mookuthi Amman 2, starring Nayanthara who is returning as the titular Amman (Goddess) in the lead. Regina Cassandra, Suneel, Yogi Babu, Abhinaya, Duniya Vijay, Ineya, Garuda Raam, Singampuli, Vichu Vishwanath, Ajay Ghosh, and Myna Nandhini, among others are also part of the film. The upcoming film is backed by Ishari Ganesh of Vels Films International and will also be co-produced by Sundar C-Khushbu Sundar's Avni Cinemax Pvt Limited, Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment. He is also reportedly reuniting with Vishal after Madha Gaja Raja for a new film which is expected to star Kayadu Lohar and another noted female actor in the lead.
Rajinikanth, meanwhile, was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's reunion was announced at a star-studded event recently, with Lokesh Kanagaraj speculated to direct, but the actor confirmed that the director, along with the script are yet to be finalised. "I am doing a film for Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies with Kamal Haasan. However, the director for the film, the storyline, and our characters are yet to be finalised. I hope this film materialises, but it all depends upon the story and the director," he said.
