Director Keerthiswaran's Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, grossed more than 100 crore from theatres worldwide over the first six days of its release, the film's producer Mythri Movie Makers, announced earlier this Thursday. In the post, the producer acknowledged that it is ahead of Bison and Diesel, among other Tamil films, in terms of the global box office collection. The makers call it "the biggest blockbuster of the Diwali season." The other day, director Keerthiswaran thanked the audience for accepting the film as it grossed 95 crore from theatres around the world.
Dude tells the story of cousins (Pradeep and Mamitha) who come together to set up a new event-planning business. However, when one of them get closer to the other, that person falls in love with the latter and suggests getting married, making things complicated between the two.
Dude also stars Sarathkumar, Rohini, Neha Shetty, and Hridhu Haroon, among others. The film has music by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by Niketh Bommi, and editing by Barath Vikraman. In our review of the Keerthiswaran directorial, Prashanth Vallavan wrote, "The film has a wacky infectious energy, and uses it to make hard-hitting commentary on social themes, but fails to leave a lasting impact."
