Debut director filmmaker Keerthiswaran, who is being praised for packing a serious social message in an otherwise light movie, Dude, revealed that the climax dialogue was not initially included in the script and was added later following the 'honour' killing of Kavin in Tirunelveli.
Speaking at the success meet of Dude, Keerthiswaran said that the line was not a part of the original script but was added after that horrific killing that sent shockwaves across the state. "Kavin's 'honour' killing incident took place during the shoot. It deeply affected all of us. That was when we included the line - 'Avalo Avamaanama Irundha Neenga Saavunga Da'. I am grateful to Pradeep(Ranganathan) for encouraging me to have this line in the movie."
Dude revolves around Agan (Pradeep) and Kural (Mamitha Baiju), who fall in love with each other, but not at the same time, and are forced to reject each other's proposals due to circumstances. What happens in their lives during the time period between their proposals has lasting consequences. How Agan and Kural deal with the complexities in their bond is what the film is about.
Apart from Pradeep and Mamitha, the film also stars Sarath Kumar, Rohini, Hridhu Haroon, and Dravid Selvam. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film's technical crew comprises music composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer Niketh Bommi, and editor Barath Vikraman.
Dude released along side Mari Selvaraj's Bison Kaalamaadan and Shanmugam Muthusamy's Diesel.
