Recently, the makers of Mari Selvaraj's upcoming film Bison released a song titled 'Theekkoluthi,' a deeply emotional ballad of love. The film's composer Nivas K Prasanna talked about the song and the feedback he received from filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon in a recent interview. Speaking on a recent Think Music India podcast, the Bison composer shared, "After listening to 'Theekkoluthi', Gautham Menon sir called me and said, 'You were in a very very different space while composing that song'. When I look back at it, I was super emotional while I was doing that song." The composer disclosed that he was in a deep mind space at the time and that the song matched Gautham Menon's emotional state. He attributed the length of the song to its strong emotional pull. "That is why it is seven minutes long," he said. The Bison music director added that the song holds your attention throughout its runtime, saying that the duration of a track has nothing to do with its quality.
Bison is based on the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan. The film stars Dhruv Vikram in the main role, alongside Anupama Parameswaran in the female lead. Written by Mari Selvaraj himself, it also features actors Lal, Pasupathy, Rajisha Vijayan, Aruvi Madhan, Azhagam Perumal, Anurag Arora, and Ameer, among others. The film has lyrics by Mari and Arivu. The film's technical team also includes cinematographer Ezhil Arasu, editor Sakthi Thiru, and action choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan.
The film is slated for an October 17 release in theatres. Also releasing on the same date is Dude, director Keerthiswaran's film featuring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju.
