With the major films lined up for Deepavali this year, Tamil cinema is already going in with youth energy for a change, as no stars are appearing on the big screen this festive season. Dhruv Vikram with Bison, Pradeep Ranganathan with Dude and Harish Kalyan with Diesel are the three major actors set to have releases on October 17, ahead of the festival of lights. While it is noteworthy that all three films are headlined by budding talents, there's another commonality between the three.
Interestingly, all three films have received a 'U/A' censorship certificate from the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC). For the uninitiated, the certificate means the film is cleared for unrestricted public exhibition but with parental guidance for children below the age of 12 years. Usually, films that release around the festive season are meant to attract the family crowd during the holidays. The 'U/A' censorship certificate indicates that the content is suitable for all ages, with some elements that may require parental guidance for younger viewers, and it often includes mature themes or elements that make it more engaging without being restricted to adult audiences only. So, the content of the three films is expected to be both family-friendly and fiery.
When it comes to run time, Dude will go on for 139 minutes, or 2 hours and 19 minutes. Bison, on the other hand, has a much longer run time, with 2 hours and 48 minutes. The runtime of Diesel is yet to be announced. With just eight days for the release, only time will tell which film manages to engage the audience the most.
Keerthiswaran is the director of Dude, which also features Mamitha Baiju. Pradeep and Mamitha will play the owners of an event management company in the romantic action comedy. Dhruv Vikram's Bison Kaalamaadan, directed by Mari Selavaraj, also stars Anupama Parameswaran and Rajisha Vijayan. Plot details are kept secret, but the film is a sports drama. Lastly, Harish Kalyan stars alongside Athulya Ravi in Diesel. The action-thriller is directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy.
