Harish Kalyan, who had recently kickstarted promotions for his much-awaited film Diesel, directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy, is unfazed by the box office clash that his film is set to face during its release on October 17, ahead of the Diwali festival.
In an interview with Cineulagam, the actor said, "There are many newcomers who are striving to give their best in Tamil cinema. Every young actor is having a great line-up of films. In fact, it's good to see that this Diwali will have all up and coming stars' films in theatres including Bison and Dude. Every film should have a good run at the box office, and everyone should encourage all the films, including mine, by watching them on the big screen."
Harish Kalyan also mentioned that Pradeep Ranganathan called him after watching Lubber Pandhu. "I knew him from before Comali as we were discussing a story together. This was before my entry into Bigg Boss Tamil, but it unfortunately, didn't materialise," he said.
The rest of the cast of Diesel includes Athulyaa Ravi, Vinay Rai, Sai Kumar, Ananya, Karunaas, Ramesh Tilak, Kaali Venkat, and Vivek Prasanna, among others.
The Diesel teaser, released in August, opens with a voiceover by Harish Kalyan, stating that to achieve happiness in the face of financial authority and power, one must fight without fear of the adversary. The teaser then showcases intense action scenes, transitions into a romantic sequence, and returns to thrilling stunts. Much details regarding the plot have been kept under wraps.
This year, Tamil cinema has moved away from the trend of moving star-led films for festive releases and are opting for mid-year windows. Young and rising actors' films are hitting theatres for festivals continuing with the trend that was seen last year. While Kavin's Bloody Beggar, Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran and Ravi Mohan's Brother hit theatres last year for the festival of lights, 2025 too will have stars like Harish Kalyan, Pradeep Ranganathan and Dhruv Vikram dominating at the box office.
Bison is a sports drama, directed by Mari Selvaraj, which also stars Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Ameer, Pasupathi, Kalaiyarasan, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Azhagam Perumal, and Madhan Dhakshinamoorthy. On the other hand, Dude is a romantic action film which has Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. Sarathkumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, Aishwarya sharma, and Dravid Selvam are also part of the cast.
Also releasing alongside these films are Gautham Menon-Samuthirakani's Carmeni Selvam and Natty's Kambi Kadna Kadhai.
