The film Parking's cast, including Harish Kalyan and MS Bhaskar, and crew celebrated its three wins at the 71st National Film Awards. Harish Kalyan shared a video on his Instagram Stories where he can be seen cutting a cake with MS Bhaskar. As Harish was about to cut it first, his co-star pushed his hand away before the two pretended to stab each other with their forks. The moment, a quirky reference to the film's premise about two grown-ups in an egotistical battle over confined car parking space, elicited laughs from the rest of the cast and crew.
Parking won Best Tamil Film, Best Screenplay for its director Ramkumar Balakrishnan, and Best Supporting Actor for MS Bhaskar. The veteran actor shared the award with Vijayaraghavan, who won for his performance in the Malayalam film Pookkaalam.
Parking follows a conflict between a tenant (Harish) and his landlord (Bhaskar) over parking space. The conflict over territory becomes an ego battle, with each of them trying to sabotage the other's life. Parking hit theatres on December 01, 2023, and it became commercially successful and earned critical appreciation. In our review of the film, Navein Darshan wrote, "The beauty of Parking lies in not making us pick a side."
The film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram of Passion Studios and KS Sinish of Soldiers Factory. Its cast also includes Indhuja Ravichandran, Prathana Nathan, Ilavarasu, Rama, and Vetrivel Raja.
