Dhanush’s Idli Kadai is seeing a slight weekend revival at the box office after a dip in weekday collections. As per early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the film earned Rs 6.15 crore (all languages) on its fourth day, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 32.50 crore.
The film, which opened to Rs 11 crore on Wednesday and maintained steady momentum on Thursday with Rs 9.75 crore, saw a sharp drop on Friday, collecting Rs 5.6 crore. However, Saturday’s numbers indicate renewed audience interest, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where positive word-of-mouth and family audiences helped push occupancy levels upward.
Starring and directed by Dhanush, Idli Kadai features Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Sathyaraj, Parthiban, Samuthirakani, and Rajkiran in pivotal roles. The drama explores themes of legacy and belonging through the story of Murugan and his connection to his father’s eatery.
In our Idli Kadai movie review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "If returning to one’s roots is important, then having the conditions conducive for the said return is even more important. The film misses out on such nuances and hides behind the concept of empathy and oneness that is just… nice."
The technical crew comprises Dhanush's frequent collaborator, composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson. The film is produced by Akash Bhaskaran through his Dawn Pictures banner and Dhanush through his Wunderbar Pictures banner.
While Kantara: Chapter 1 continues to dominate the national box office, Dhanush’s film has managed to hold its ground in key Tamil regions, especially Chennai, Coimbatore, and Trichy, which remain strong markets.
With Sunday’s collections expected to climb further, Idli Kadai now looks set for a stable first-week run, buoyed by its local appeal and Dhanush’s loyal fan base.
